Andrea Piecuch (25), representing Hassel Island, triumphed over 9 other contestants to be crowned Miss Universe US Virgin Islands 2019 on Saturday, August 17 at the Divi Carina Bay Resort & Casino in Saint Croix.
Last year’s winner, Aniska Tonge, crowned her successor who won the right to represent the US Virgin Islands at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant whose date and venue are yet to be announced.
Andrea moved to the territory a few months ago to meet the 6-month residency requirement to compete in the national pageant. She has previously participated in the Miss Florida USA and Miss Utah USA state pageants.
Another winner in the competition who represented Magens Bay, Destani Huffman-Jefferson, was crowned Miss Supranational US Virgin Islands 2019. She will travel to Poland for the Miss Supranational 2019 pageant in December.
Emely Ruiz and Anumaat Kahina were crowned Miss Queen Beauty US Virgin Islands 2019 and Miss Runway US Virgin Islands 2019, respectively.
The results of the competition sparked outrage as the winner and the rest of the Top 5 finalists have no known ties to the US Virgin Islands.
