A 19-year-old beauty representing Delta Amacuro, Thalia Olvino, was crowned Miss Venezuela 2019 on Thursday, August 1 at the Venevision studio in Caracas. The 178 cm tall management and administrative sciences student triumphed over 23 other contestants to win the 66th edition of the most coveted national beauty title in the country.
Thalia hails from Carabobo and defines herself as an independent, brave and confident woman who loves sports and is passionate about constantly learning. The newly-crowned Miss Venezuela succeeded last year’s winner, Isabella Rodríguez, and will represent her country at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant.
Another winner in the competition is 20-year-old Miss Zulia, Melissa Jiménez. She was crowned Miss International Venezuela 2019 by the reigning Miss International and fellow Venezuelan, Mariem Velazco.
Melissa will travel to Tokyo, Japan to compete in the Miss International 2019 pageant in November and try to pull off a back-to-back win for her country.
Luz Ledezma (Apure), Vanessa Coello (Monagas) and Oriana Pablos (Oriana Pablos) were first, second and third runners-up, respectively.
Venezuela is still the undisputed leader in the world of pageants with 7 Miss Universe and 8 Miss International crowns to boast. This year’s winners are surely up for another year of success in bringing pride and honor to the country currently challenged with economic and political tensions.
