For the 8th time, Venezuela won another Miss International after Mariem Velazco was crowned Miss International 2018 on November 9, at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Mariem bested 76 other countries to win the coveted beauty title. In second place is Miss Philippines, Ahtisa Manalo followed by the beauties from South Africa, Romania, and Colombia.
This year’s pageant with the theme “Cheer All Women” had the biggest turnout in the pageant’s history, surpassing the previous record of 73 contestants in 2014.
The new Miss International was crowned by last year’s winner Kevin Liliana of Indonesia. Mariem is 19 years old, and currently studying Geophysical Engineering. She is originally from the state of Anzoátegui but represented Barinas in the Miss Venezuela pageant.
