Miss World 2018 is Miss Mexico Vanessa Ponce

Miss World 2018 Vanessa Ponce Crowning26-year-old Vanessa Ponce from Mexico was crowned Miss World 2018 during the 68th edition of the pageant which was held at the Sanya City Arena in Sanya, China on December 8. Beauties from Thailand, Belarus, Jamaica and Uganda completed the Top 5 finalists.

Former Miss Worlds Megan Young of the Philippines (Miss World 2013) and Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico (Miss World 2016) hosted the glittering show together with Fernando Allende, Angela Chow, Frankie Cena and Barney Walsh with guest performances by Donel Mangena, Dimash Kudaibergen and Sister Sledge.

The new Miss World is a model, holds a degree in International Business and is on the board of directors of a rehab center for girls and women. During the pageant, she promoted her project called “Na Vili”, whose objective is to help the children of the indigenous day laborers who emigrate from State of Guerrero, Mexico to State of Guanajuato, Mexico. She also works in a school called Nenemi that is dedicated to giving intercultural education to indigenous people.

Vanessa became the first ever representative from Mexico to win the coveted Miss World title. She’s also the oldest winner in the history of the pageant surpassing the previous record of Miss World 1989, Aneta Kręglicka who was 24 at the time of her win.
