With only less than two weeks to the Miss World 2019 final, this year’s contestants were treated to a river tour of London and what better way than along the River Thames from St. Katharine Pier to Westminster where they had the perfect opportunity to capture some of the city’s famous landmarks.
The contestants were accompanied by former Miss World Stephanie Del Valle, the reigning queen Vanessa Ponce de Leon and Miss World’s Julia Morley.
They were then led to the Palace of Westminster and through Black Rod’s Gate, the official entrance to the House of Lords where they were greeted by Baroness Floella Benjamin OBE.
The Baroness gave them a special tour and an insight into the history of the House of Lords, the second chamber of the UK Parliament, followed by a quintessentially English afternoon tea on the terrace at the Palace of Westminster.
Floella spoke to the contestants about her life, what being a member of the House of Lords meant to her as the first woman from Trinidad & Tobago to be a Baroness, and her philosophy for success – consideration, contentment, and confidence. She urged everyone to make a difference and the world a better place.
