Miss World 2018, Vanessa Ponce together with Miss World Chairman and CEO, Julia Morley touched down at Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday, July 23.
It is the first time that a reigning Miss World and the Miss World organization visited the east African country.
Vanessa and the organization were welcomed by Miss Uganda national director Brenda Nanyonjo, Miss Uganda 2018 and reigning Miss World Africa Quiin Abenakyo, and officials from Uganda Tourism Board (UTB).
The Mexican beauty queen could not hold back her excitement after coming to Uganda for the first time.
She said, “My sister Quiin has told me so much about Uganda and how it’s the Pearl of Africa. I have only been here a few hours, but I am already loving it. The people are so friendly and welcoming, the food is amazing, I can see why it’s truly the Pearl of Africa. I can’t wait to meet more people.”
The busy 4-day itinerary includes a historic meeting with Yoweri Museveni, the President of Uganda, visits to ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ charitable projects and the crowning of Miss Uganda 2019 pageant at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on Friday, July 26.
