A 19-year-old nursing student, Naomi Colford, beat 55 other beauties to be crowned Miss World Canada 2019 at the Toronto Centre for the Arts Lyric Theatre on Saturday, July 27.
Gloren Guelos and Courtney Mandock were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Erin Chapman, Jardine David, and Nicole Elendu completed the Top 6 finalists.
The new Miss World Canada hails from Sydney, Nova Scotia. She will now prepare to represent Canada at the Miss World 2019 pageant in London, England next December.
Naomi said, “I can’t even put into words how good it feels and I’m just honored and proud that I get to represent my country.”
Canada is yet to win its first Miss World crown. The last time the country almost win the pageant was in 2003 when Nazanin Afshin-Jam placed as first runner-up and received the Queen of the Americas title.
Miss World Canada has been held annually since 1957. It’s currently headed by its former winner, Miss World Canada 1996, Michelle Weswaldi.
