Miss World Philippines announces acquisition of Miss Supranational franchise

The Miss World Philippines (MWP) organization has officially announced on Tuesday, July 28 its acquisition of the Miss Supranational franchise.

Previously held by Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI), Miss Supranational becomes one of the biggest and coveted titles in the Miss World Philippines organization’s roster, which currently includes Reina Hispanoamericana, Miss Eco International, Miss Eco Teen International, Miss Multinational, and Miss Philippines Tourism.

Under BPCI, Mutya Johanna Datul of Santa Maria, Isabela, became the first Filipina to win Miss Supranational in 2013. She is also the first Asian to hold the international beauty title.

Arnold Vegafria, the national director of Miss World Philippines, expressed his excitement on this new partnership with the Polish-based international pageant presided by Gerhard Parzutka Von Lipinski.

“Aside from strengthening our foothold in the local and global pageant scenes, the addition of the Miss Supranational title will provide our aspiring Filipina queens with another relevant platform for women empowerment,” he said in an official statement released on social media.

“We are thankful for the trust and confidence that the Miss Supranational organization has given us, and we assure them of our commitment and our world-class brand of production values that are always a hallmark of our pageants.”

The reigning Miss Supranational, Thailand’s Anntonia Porsild shared a congratulatory message to the national organization for acquiring the exclusive rights to crown the next Miss Supranational Philippines.

Miss World Philippines 2020 pageant has been rescheduled to January 2021 due to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation.
