A 21-year-old psychologist and model from Cordoba, María del Mar Aguilera, was crowned Miss World Spain 2019 on Sunday, August 18 in Melilla. She beat 51 other contestants to win the national beauty title and succeed last year’s winner, Amaia Izar.
Miss Las Palmas, Tania Medina, and Miss Tenerife, Marta González Pérez were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Miss Jaén, Marta López, and Miss Sevilla, Julianna Ro completed the Top 5 finalists.
The newly-crowned Miss World Spain has been involved in volunteering as a psychologist for people with bipolar disorder and she wants to raise awareness on the mental illness through information and experience.
María will represent her country at the Miss World 2019 pageant in London, England in December.
Spain has won its first Miss World crown in 2015 with Mireia Lalaguna.
