Dewmi Thathsarani from Kandy was crowned Miss World Sri Lanka 2019 at the grand ballroom of Hilton Colombo last October 14. She bested 11 other finalists to win the beauty title.
The 21-year-old succeeds last year’s titleholder, Miss World Sri Lanka 2016, Amritaa De Silva. She will now represent Sri Lanka at the Miss World 2019 pageant in London, England this coming December.
Thulja Yang and Deema Munasinghe were the first and second runners-up, respectively.
The national competition was presented by Modelshop in association with Siyatha TV, Kiss Fm & Sunday Times.
Siyatha TV will broadcast the pageant on Sunday, November 10 at 10 p.m.
Previously known as Ceylon until 1972, Sri Lanka first joined Miss World in 1953 with Manel Illangakoon. She placed as 3rd runner-up, the highest placement that the country achieved so far in the pageant.
