Cristina Mariel Ríos has been officially named the new Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2021 and will now have the opportunity to compete at the Miss Earth 2021 pageant.
The 19-year-old beauty is an environmental chemistry student who founded Eco Amigos Puerto Rico for the youth. She was an elemental court winner during last year’s competition won by Valerie Vigoreaux Cortés.
Valerie took to social media to release a statement regarding the issue. She said: “With the best of spirits, I clarify that my determination to leave the Miss Earth Puerto Rico pageant is due to the impossibility of formalizing a final agreement with its directors. The understandings, verbal agreements and representations between the parties could not be formalized for the benefit of all parties involved.”
The new Miss Earth Puerto Rico who hails from San Sebastián has expressed her excitement for being chosen as the replacement for the title. She also thanked her supporters and promised to carry the name of her beautiful island up high.
According to the national organization, Cristina has a deep commitment to the cause of the pageant and has already started her preparation for the international competition later this year.
