Miss Grand International 2022 contestants had the chance to wear Muslim clothing as they made a special appearance at the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2023. Held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in Tangerang Regency, the MGI beauties walked the runway during the annual event on Friday, October 21 wearing the latest trends and collections of Indonesian Muslim fashion. The highly anticipated Miss Grand International 2022 National Costume Competition has just concluded at the Sentul International Convention Centre (SICC) in Bogor, Indonesia. Hosted by former MGI titleholder Lees Garcia, the spectacular show featured 68 of the world's grandest costumes celebrating the national history, culture, and tradition of the contestants. The Top 10 results for the Miss Grand International 2022 Best in Swimsuit have been officially announced on Tuesday, October 18. Five contestants (Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and Brazil) were voted by fans on social media while the other five (Colombia, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Puerto Rico, and Spain) were chosen by the judges. Almost 70 contestants from around the world have already arrived in Bali, Indonesia for the 10th Miss Grand International pageant. Following their arrival and registrations at the Seminyak Beach Resort and Spa, several activities have taken place during the first week of the competition. The Miss Grand International 2022 pageant kicked off on Wednesday, October 5 with the contestants' official sashing ceremony at The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa in Bali, Indonesia. Hosted by a former winner from 2014, Lees Garcia of Cuba, the show streamed live on the official Facebook page of Miss Grand International. MGI Vice President Teresa Chaivisut opened the ceremony and revealed that the final Top 10 will have their own crowns and stay for one more week in Indonesia after the coronation on October 25 in Jakarta. Before the official sashing commenced, reigning Miss Grand International Nguyen Thuy Thuc Tien gave a short speech and shared with the contestants some helpful advice as they are competing for the golden crown. With the beautiful Bali beach as the backdrop to the ceremony, a total of 66 contestants from around the world received their official sashes from the Vietnamese queen. The 10th Miss Grand International competition is about to start in Bali, Indonesia as the contestants from around the world depart for the host country. Seventy-two beauties are expected to arrive on October 3 and 4. Three new countries consisting of DR Congo, Kyrgyzstan, and Mozambique will debut this year. The contestants will be officially welcomed during the traditional sashing ceremony on October 5 and the Top 10 with the highest social media votes will have a special dinner with MGI President Nawat Itsaragrisil. In the next three weeks, the contestants will go through pre-pageant activities, photoshoots, rehearsals, and preliminary competitions leading to the final show on October 25 in Jakarta, where Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien of Vietnam will relinquish her reign. Doan Thien An was crowned Miss Grand Vietnam 2022 (Hoa hậu Hòa bình Việt Nam) in a spectacular final show held on Saturday, October 1 at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City. The 22-year-old student from Long An province bested 49 other contestants to win the national title. She will now represent Vietnam at Miss Grand International 2022 in Bali and Jakarta, Indonesia this October. Che Nguyen Quynh Chau was named first runner-up while Tran Tuyet Nhu, Tran Nguyen Minh Thu, and Ngo Thi Quynh Mai were the second, third and fourth runners-up, respectively. Laura Sofia de Sanctis has been officially announced as Miss Grand Panama 2022 on Friday, September 9 and she will represent Panama at Miss Grand International 2022 in Indonesia this October. The 26-year-old social communication graduate is a radio and television presenter, an actress, and a professional model. She is currently working as a logistics manager for a fish processing company and also the CEO of Mundo de Madre Selva, a company focused on working with salvaged wood, which she herself works with Panamanian artisans. In addition, the new Miss Grand Panama is an animal lover, especially cats, and is passionate about philanthropy. She has carried out personal campaigns for various organizations related to cancer prevention, child labor, and tree planting. No stranger to pageantry, Laura is a former winner of Señorita Panama. The 25-year-old law graduate received her crown in an intimate ceremony from last year's titleholder Márcia de Menezes, who placed in the Top 20 at Miss Grand International 2021 and bagged the Best in National Costume award. This year's Miss Grand Angola is a model, jurist, philanthropist, social volunteer, entrepreneur, and business strategist. Laysha Anaili Salazar Ocejo was officially announced as Miss Grand Mexico 2022 in a special ceremony held on Thursday, August 25 at the Victoria Hall of the Los Lagos Country Club in Hermosillo. The 19-year-old beauty hails from the city of Hermosillo, in the center of the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora. She is pursuing a degree in entertainment business management. Previously owned by the Miss Mexico Organization, the license for Miss Grand Mexico has now been taken over by Venezuelan businessman Flavio Falsiroli. The newly appointed Miss Grand Mexico is no stranger to pageantry. In 2021, she was named Miss Teen Universe Mexico and went on to compete in the Miss Teen Universe pageant in Nicaragua where she placed in the Top 10.
