Antioquia's Catalina Duque Abréu crowned Señorita Colombia 2024

Catalina Duque Abréu was crowned Señorita Colombia 2024 (Miss Colombia 2024) on November 10 at the Cartagena Convention Center. The 25-year-old beauty representing Antioquia bested over 30 other contestants to win the national title. She became the seventh winner from Antioquia and the first in 28 years after Claudia Elena Vásquez in 1996. Nicolle Ospina of Atlántico placed second and was named Virreina while Juliana Osorio of Region Caribe, Valentina Tafur of Valle, and Olga Álvarez of Riohacha were the first, second, and third runners-up, respectively. Sharon Gamarra of Barranquilla, Yaniris Castellar of Cartagena, Ángela Capella of Chocó, Liz Zamara Yanquen of Norte de Santander, and María José Chacon of Tolima were the rest of the Top 10. The new Señorita Colombia succeeds Sofía Osío Luna and is now expected to represent Colombia at Miss International 2025 in Japan. Colombia's Yuri Rey crowned Miss Aura International 2024

Yuri Rey from Colombia bested over 40 other contestants to win Miss Aura International 2024 on Friday, October 18 in Antalya, Turkey. The 29-year-old talented makeup artist and model was crowned by last year's winner Ketwalee "Ket" Phonbodi from Thailand. Isabelle De Los Santos of the Philippines was named first runner-up while Gizem Çelik of Türkiye, Yasmin Zaini of Malaysia, and Makeeba-Kaya Animpong of Ghana were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. The Top 11 finalists were from Brazil (Jhenifer Santos), Indonesia (Olivia Stephanie), Romabia (Rafaela Farcas), Russia (Anna Semenovykh), Thailand (Kittiyapron Fungmee), and Venezuela (Maria Antoinetta Silva). Colombia's Diana Moreno was crowned The Miss Globe 2024 in a glittering competition held on Tuesday, October 15 at the Tirana Olympic Park in Albania. The 27-year-old international business professional bested over 40 competitors to win the global title. She made history as the first Colombian woman to become The Miss Globe. Prada Thansita Dilhokanansa of Thailand was named first runner-up while Jasmin Bungay of the Philippines, Andromeda Schuster of Germany, and Ha Trang Do of Vietnam were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. The contestants from Italy, Cameroon, Belgium, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Albania, Montenegro, and the USA were the rest of the Top 16 semifinalists. Dennise Cuadrado, the representative of Antioquia, was crowned Miss Grand Colombia 2024 on Sunday, August 4 at the Centro de Convenciones Cartagena de Indias. The 29-year-old fashion producer and model will represent Colombia at Miss Grand International 2024 in Cambodia and Thailand this October. She succeeds María Alejandra López, last year's winner who placed second runner-up at Miss Grand International 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Luisa Valentina of Cauca was named first runner-up while Lina Zambrano of Atlantico finished as the second runner-up. Miss Mundo Atlantico, Andrea Romero, was crowned Miss Mundo Colombia 2024 (Miss World Colombia 2024) during the national competition held on Sunday, August 4 in Bogota. The 19-year-old beauty from Barranquilla, Atlantico bested 17 other contestants to win the national title. She will represent Colombia at the 73rd Miss World. Her predecessor, Miss Mundo Colombia 2023 Catalina Quintero, will head to the 72nd Miss World whose date and venue have yet to be announced. Daniela Toloza Rocha was crowned Miss Universe Colombia 2024 on Sunday, June 2 at Centro de convenciones Puerta de Oro in Barranquilla. The 30-year-old, representing the department of Valle del Cauca, beat 29 other contestants to win the national title. She succeeds Camila Avella, last year's winner and Miss Universe 2023 Top 5 finalist. Huila's María Alejandra Salazar placed second and was named "virreina" while the contestants from Barranquilla, Kimberly Hooker, and Risaralda, Leidy Yuliana Gómez were the first and second runners-up, respectively. The Miss Universe Colombia 2024 selection and coronation night will be held on Sunday, June 2 at Centro de convenciones Puerta de Oro in Barranquilla. A preliminary competition will take place at the same venue on Friday, May 31 for the judges to determine who among the contestants will move forward to the semifinals. Thirty beauties representing different departments of Colombia are currently vying for the highly coveted national title currently held by last year's winner from Casanare,  Camila Avella . Camila was the first-ever mother to be crowned Miss Universe Colombia. She competed in Miss Universe 2023 and placed in the Top 5 last November in San Salvador, El Salvador. A 17-year-old student representing Colombia, Natalia Rodriguez Cabarcas bested 11 other competitors to be crowned Miss Sea Beauty International 2023. Carla Mateo of the Dominican Republic was named first runner-up. She was also awarded Miss Silhouette, Miss Internet, and Best National Costume. Aurys Mazenett of Venezuela finished as the second runner-up and bagged the Best Catwalk and Evening Gown awards. Miss Malambo, Amy Luz Barranco, won the titles of Miss Talent and Miss Photogenic. The new Miss Sea Beauty International succeeds last year's winner Nathaly Carrasquero of Margarita Island. Former Miss Earth Colombia Alejandra Villafañe passes away at the age of 34

Colombian actress and former Miss Earth Colombia Alejandra Villafañe died in Bogotá on October 21 after months of battling cancer. Alejandra was 34 years old and was engaged to actor Raul Ocampo at the time of her death. Messages of sympathy poured in online from her family, friends, and fellow celebrities. Prior to becoming an actress, she was crowned Miss Earth Colombia 2014 and went on to participate in the 14th Miss Earth pageant in the Philippines where she placed in the Top 16. After pageantry, she appeared in numerous telenovelas, television series, and films. Her last project was the film "El Yuppie y El Guiso" by the renowned Colombian film producer and screenwriter Dago García. Maria Camila Avella Montañez was crowned Miss Universe Colombia 2023 in a national competition held on Saturday, September 2 at Centro de Eventos del Caribe in Puerta de Oro, Barranquilla. The 28-year-old model, content creator, and TV host representing Casanare bested over 20 other contestants to win the national title. She made history by being the first ever mother and married woman to become Miss Universe Colombia. Former Miss Universe Andrea Meza has just arrived in Barranquilla, Colombia as a special guest judge for the upcoming Miss Universe Colombia 2023 pageant. The Mexican model and beauty queen turned Telemundo host was crowned Miss Universe 2020 in May 2021 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. A software engineering graduate and native of Chihuahua, Andrea holds the record for the shortest completed reign in Miss Universe history to date. She is the third winner from Mexico next to Lupita Jones (1991) and Ximena Navarrete (2010).
