Miss Universe Ireland 2024 is Sofia Labus from Cork

Sofia Labus triumphed over 26 other competitors to be crowned Miss Universe Ireland 2024 on Friday, September 20 at the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk. The 21-year-old social justice advocate and entrepreneur from Montenotti in Cork already joined last year and finished second runner-up. She succeeds last year's winner from County Kildare, Aishah Akorede, and will now prepare to represent Ireland at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico this November. Caoimhe Kenny from County Donegal and Annie O'Dea from Galway were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. The new Miss Universe Ireland was born in Ireland to immigrant parents from Serbia. She holds a Level 5 qualification in psychology and social studies and is pursuing criminology at University College Cork (UCC). As part of the first-born generation of Irish-Serbs, Sofia champions educational opportunities for immigrants. Aishah Akorede triumphed over nine other competitors to be crowned Miss Universe Ireland 2023 on Friday, September 22 at the Liberty Hall Theatre in Dublin. The 23-year-old fashion model and Beauty and the Geek UK winner from County Kildare will now prepare to represent Ireland at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador this November. Katie O'Connor was named first runner-up while Sofia Labus finished as the second runner-up. The new Miss Universe Ireland is the founder of Recrowned Ireland, a non-profit women's empowerment and social justice initiative. Aishah earned her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Griffith College in Dublin and her Master of Laws (LLM) from Queen's University Belfast. She is currently working as a corporate compliance consultant. Ireland was last represented at Miss Universe in 2021 with Katharine Walker. The Miss Universe Ireland 2023 national final will be held tonight at the Liberty Hall Theatre in Dublin. A total of 10 contestants have been announced vying for the coveted title. One of them will have the opportunity to represent Ireland at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador this November. The winner of this year's competition will wear a crown inspired by the elements and symbols of the country. An esteemed panel of judges who will pick tonight's winner includes Choicely CEO Kaius Meskanen, PR1 owner and director Helen O'Dwyer, Miss Universe Great Britain national director Paula Abbandonato, fashion designer Claire Garvey, and reigning Miss Universe Ireland Katharine Walker. Rachel Slawson, a 28-year-old Irish-American actress, keynote speaker, and model, has been officially appointed as Miss Grand Ireland 2023. The former Miss Utah USA and the first openly LGBTQ+ contestant at Miss USA, recently placed as the second runner-up at Miss Grand United States 2023 pageant in Chicago, Illinois. As a strong advocate for mental health and inclusivity, she is the founder of the "I Am Why Project" and the non-profit "Feelings Are Human" to create a positive impact in her community. The new Miss Grand Ireland will proudly represent the "Emerald Isle" at Miss Grand International 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam this October. Inishowen's Layla Doherty bested 20 other competitors from all over the country to win the Miss Earth Ireland 2023 pageant on Saturday, May 27 in Galway. The 21-year-old freelance model and Maple Store Ballyliffin employee will now prepare to represent Ireland at Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam later this year. Her court of runners-up includes Abigail Walsh, Leah Sheehan, and Kevea Gallagher. They were awarded the titles Miss Earth Air, Miss Earth Water, and Miss Earth Fire Ireland 2023, respectively. Last year's winner who placed in the Top 20 at Miss Earth 2022 in the Philippines last November, Alannah Larkin, relinquished her crown at the end of the event. Miss Munster, Ivanna McMahon, bested 35 other contestants to be crowned Miss Ireland 2022 during the 75th-anniversary edition of the national pageant on Saturday, August 20 at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar. The 27-year-old medicine graduate from Barefield, Ennis, Co. Clare is currently working in Tralee, Co. Kerry. She is a musician, enjoys the gym, walks on the beach, and loves to travel. Alannah Larkin was crowned Miss Earth Ireland 2022 in a glittering competition held on Saturday, May 28 at Mount Falcon Estate in Ballina. The 18-year-old student from Eyrecourt in Galway bested over 20 other beauties to win her national beauty title. She will now prepare to represent Ireland at the international Miss Earth 2022 pageant later this year. "I had the most surreal night last night surrounded by the most amazing people. Miss Galway, Pamela Uba, claimed the coveted Miss Ireland 2021 title at the Lakeside Manor Hotel in Virginia, Co. Cavan last September 5. The 25-year-old beauty has just completed her master's in clinical chemistry and works at University Hospital Galway. Her "Beauty with a Purpose" project focuses on education. She launched a fundraiser entitled “Make Education A Superpower.” The funds raised go towards educational equipment, such as upcycled iPads, for children living in direct provision, a system of asylum seeker accommodation. Pamala made history as the first-ever black woman to be crowned Miss Ireland. She traveled from Johannesburg, South Africa at a young age and seek asylum to start a new life in Ireland.
