Miss Earth Japan 2024 is Ann Furukawa of Hyogo

Ann Furukawa bested over 20 other contestants to win Miss Earth Japan 2024 during the national competition held on Thursday, August 1 in Tokyo. The 21-year-old representing Hyogo succeeds last year's winner Kirari Oshiro and will now prepare to compete in Miss Earth 2024 whose date and venue have yet to be announced. Yukina Uehara of Saitama, Nako Takeuchi of Oita, and Yoshino Maruta of Kagawa placed second (Miss Air Japan), third (Miss Water Japan) and fourth (Miss Fire Japan), respectively. Miss Universe Japan 2024 is Kaya Chakrabortty

Kaya Chakrabortty bested over 30 other contestants to win Miss Universe Japan 2024 during the national competition held on Thursday, July 25 in Tokyo. The 22-year-old Japanese-Bangladeshi from Kobe City in Hyogo Prefecture will represent Japan at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico this November. She succeeds last year's winner Rio Miyazaki. Naomi Kamidate, Yukie Yamaguchi, Honoka Shimamori, and Chika Mizuno were the Top 5 finalists. Completing the Top 11 were Erina Hanawa, Misaki Komori, Nanami Hagiwara, Mami Miyamaru, Hana Yanagi, and Mai Amano. The new Miss Universe Japan is a figure skating champion and a certified paramedic. She graduated from Michigan State University with a double major in human biology and neuroscience. Her mother is Japanese and her father is of Bangladeshi and Indian descent. Miss Grand Japan 2024 is Luma Naomi Shigemitsu

Luma Naomi Shigemitsu was crowned Miss Grand Japan 2024 in a national competition held on Saturday, July 20 at the New Pier Hall in Tokyo. The 21-year-old model from Aichi was also awarded Best in Evening Gown. She will represent Japan this October at Miss Grand International 2024 whose venue has yet to be announced. Erika Ishibashi was named first runner-up while Anna Hayakawa, Sayo Nodake, and Miho Ogawa were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Rounding out the Top 8 finalists were Yukako Sakata, Mao Eguchi, and Shiori Sato. The new Miss Grand Japan succeeds Yayoi Machida, last year's winner who bagged the Best in National Costume award at the Miss Grand International 2023 pageant in  Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Ukrainian Karolina Shiino wins Miss Japan, sparks outrage

Naturalized Japanese with Ukrainian roots, Karolina Shiino, was crowned Miss Japan 2024 (Miss Nippon) on Monday, January 22 in Tokyo. The 26-year-old model has made headlines around the world after winning her title as she is the first-ever caucasian woman to become Miss Japan in the pageant's 56-year history. Her victory ignited an online debate with many questioning the results, saying her win was "inappropriate" as "Miss Japan should be genetically Japanese." In a post on social media, Karolina thanked everyone who supported her journey to winning the national competition. She also shared how the past few months leading to the final allowed her to learn more about Japanese culture. "I fell in love with Japan even more and I feel like I was able to grow as a Japanese person," she said. "I was able to renew my interest in aspects of Japanese culture and traditional performing arts that I had not had much exposure to since I was familiar with them

Miss International 2024 will be held on November 12 in Tokyo

The Miss International 2024 competition has been announced to be held on November 12 in Tokyo, Japan. This year's pageant will mark the 62nd edition of the Japan-based international beauty pageant. Tokyo first hosted Miss International in 1968 after being held in the USA since its inauguration in 1960. The pageant has already been held in the Japanese capital numerous times including last year's remarkable show. As of today, a few national winners have been crowned so far and further details including the final venue have yet to be officially revealed. Miss International 2023, the 61st edition of the Miss International pageant is about to officially begin in Tokyo, Japan. More than 70 international beauties from different countries and territories are expected to arrive in "the land of the rising sun" and compete for the highly coveted international title. This year's edition will mark the debuts of Albania, Bangladesh, Lesotho, and Pakistan and the returns of Angola, Côte D'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Estonia, Ghana, Lithuania, Martinique, Moldova, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe. Miss Japan 2023 is Ai Yoshida of Saga

Ai Yoshida was crowned Miss Japan 2023 in a national competition held last Thursday, September 28 at the Hotel Chinzanso in Tokyo. The 25-year-old public servant representing Saga bested 39 other contestants to win the national title. She succeeds last year's winner  Shiori Kojima of Kanagawa. Risa Hiroi of Yamaguchi placed second while Shiori Ohno of Kumamoto, Miyuki Hase of Hokkaido, and Yanase Alessa of Osaka were third, fourth, and fifth, respectively. Alongside the new Miss Japan, Junya Ota of Kanagawa was proclaimed Mr. Japan 2023 while Ayumi Yoshimura of Kyoto clinched the title of Miss Japan Premium 2023. Their respective predecessors were  Kaito Iwami and Mari Uehara. The winners will now embark on a year-long adventure as titleholders and will be involved in official events and charity activities. Rio Miyazaki was crowned Miss Universe Japan 2023 in a national competition held on Wednesday, August 30 at the Yamano Hall in Tokyo. The 20-year-old early childhood education student at Kyoritsu Women's University from Shizuoka Prefecture beat 30 other competitors to win the coveted national title. Nana Miwa and Risa Morishita were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Mio Yamamoto and Misaki Matsumoto rounded out the Top 5 finalists. The rest of the Top 11 semifinalists were Kana Takada, Karen Miyazawa, Mina Yasukawa, Ria Iuchi, Sayaka Uechi, and Yuma Enomoto. Last year's winner Marybelen Sakamoto crowned her successor at the end of the glittering event. Kirari Oshiro bested 22 other competitors to be crowned Miss Earth Japan 2023 in a national competition held on Thursday, August 3 at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo. The 20-year-old university student representing Okinawa succeeds last year's winner Manae Matsumoto and will now prepare to represent her country at Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam this December. Rounding out the Top 5 finalists were Haruna Kokubo of Tokyo (second place), Arisa Nagasaka of Osaka (third place), and Yume Kusunoki of Niigata (fourth place).
