Miss Grand International 2024: Meet the contestants

Miss Grand International 2024, the 12th edition of the annual Miss Grand International pageant, is underway in Bangkok, Thailand. A total of 71 grand contestants from different countries and territories around the world have arrived in the host country to compete for the coveted golden crown. One of them will be crowned by outgoing queen Luciana Fuster from Peru in the finals this October 25 at the MGI Hall in Bravo BKK Mall. The contestants will have their national costume competition on October 20 while the preliminary competition and the final round for the Grand Voice Award will be held on October 22. Head over to the official website to vote for your favorites. The winner of Miss Popular Vote will automatically earn a spot in the Top 10 in the upcoming coronation night. Miss Grand Peru 2024 is Arlette Rujel from Callao

Arlette Rujel was crowned Miss Grand Peru 2024 in a national competition held on Saturday, September 21 at the Plaza Miguel Grau Seminario in Punchana, Loreto. The 25-year-old fashion model and events host from Callao will represent Peru at Miss Grand International 2024 in Cambodia and Thailand this October. Niva Antezana of Lima was named first runner-up while Alexandra Parcon of Lima Centro and Andrea Torres of Loreto were the second, and third runners-up, respectively. The new Miss Grand Peru succeeds Luciana Fuster, last year's winner who was crowned Miss Grand International 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. No stranger to pageantry, Arlette joined Miss Peru 2020 and made the Top 5. Last year, she went to Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia to compete for Reina Hispanoamericana 2022 and became the first Peruvian woman to win the international title. Miss Grand Colombia 2024 is Dennise Cuadrado

Dennise Cuadrado, the representative of Antioquia, was crowned Miss Grand Colombia 2024 on Sunday, August 4 at the Centro de Convenciones Cartagena de Indias. The 29-year-old fashion producer and model will represent Colombia at Miss Grand International 2024 in Cambodia and Thailand this October. She succeeds María Alejandra López, last year's winner who placed second runner-up at Miss Grand International 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Luisa Valentina of Cauca was named first runner-up while Lina Zambrano of Atlantico finished as the second runner-up. The contestants from Norte de Santander, Angelica Valero, Valle del Cauca, Daniela Roldan, Región Caribe, Ashly Fadul, and Cúcuta, Liliam Pinzon were the third, fourth, fifth and sixth runners-up, respectively. Completing the Top 12 were La Guajira, Claudia Cotes, Cartagena, Maria Gabriela Carriazo, Barranquilla, Vanessa García Romero, Arauca, Antonella Caroprese, and Magdalena, Valentina Urbina. Luma Naomi Shigemitsu was crowned Miss Grand Japan 2024 in a national competition held on Saturday, July 20 at the New Pier Hall in Tokyo. The 21-year-old model from Aichi was also awarded Best in Evening Gown. She will represent Japan this October at Miss Grand International 2024 whose venue has yet to be announced. Erika Ishibashi was named first runner-up while Anna Hayakawa, Sayo Nodake, and Miho Ogawa were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Rounding out the Top 8 finalists were Yukako Sakata, Mao Eguchi, and Shiori Sato. The new Miss Grand Japan succeeds Yayoi Machida, last year's winner who bagged the Best in National Costume award at the Miss Grand International 2023 pageant in  Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Miss Grand South Africa 2024 is Sharne Dheochand

Sharne Dheochand was crowned Miss Grand South Africa 2024 in a national competition held on Saturday, June 1 at the Theatre of Marcellus, Emperors Palace in Kempton Park. The 21-year-old from Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, bested 27 other contestants to win the national title. She succeeds last year's winner Gugulethu Mayisela. Karabo Lawal was named first runner-up while Suhane Bosch, Sinamile Dlamini, and Lesego Nyathela were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. The new Miss Grand South Africa will now prepare to represent the "Rainbow Nation" at Miss Grand International 2024 this October. Susana Medina was crowned Miss Grand Spain 2024 in a glittering competition held on Saturday, May 11 at Theatre Municipal Horacio Noguera, Isla Cristina, Huelva. The 25-year-old representative of Las Palmas bested 34 other contestants to win the national title. She succeeds last year's winner Celia Sevilla and will now represent Spain at Miss Grand International 2024. Idayra Tena of Tenerife was named first runner-up while Adriana Corpas of Tarragona, Luana Gheban of Albacete, and Esther Escudero of Euskadi were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. The Top 10 were María Llamas of Andalusia, Rocio Mengual of Córdoba, Gema Adrover of Mediterranean, Mayka Rodríguez of Seville, and Ainhoa Gallego of Toledo. Peru's Luciana Fuster was crowned Miss Grand International 2023 in a glittering show held on Wednesday, October 25 at the Phu Thọ Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The 24-year-old model and TV personality hailing from Callao succeeds Isabella Menin from Brazil. She is the second representative from Peru to clinch the coveted title next to María José Lora. Ni Ni Lin Eain of Myanmar was named first runner-up while María Alejandra López of Colombia, Sthephanie Miranda of the United States of America, and Le Hoang Phuong of Vietnam were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. The fifth runners-up were from Angola, Eugénia das Neves, the Dominican Republic, Skarxi Marte, Indonesia, Ritassya Wellgreat, Netherlands, Melissa Bottema, and Thailand, Thaweeporn Phingchamrat. Miss Grand International 2024 will be hosted in Myanmar

The Miss Grand International Organization officially announced Myanmar as the host country for the Miss Grand International 2024 competition. The special announcement was made during the final show of the Miss Grand International 2023 on Wednesday, October 25 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a Southeast Asian nation of more than 100 ethnic groups, bordering India, Bangladesh, China, Laos, and Thailand. Known as the Land of the Golden Pagodas. It is famous for its Buddhism, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, and the intriguing mix of British colonial architecture and gilded pagodas. Its capital city, Yangon (formerly Rangoon), is the country's largest city and is home to bustling markets, numerous parks and lakes, and the towering, gilded Shwedagon Pagoda, which contains Buddhist relics and dates to the 6th century. The final show and grand coronation of the 11th Miss Grand International pageant is taking place tonight at the Phú Thọ Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. After weeks of pre-pageant activities, fashion shows, sightseeing, tours, and preliminary competitions, the 69 contestants are ready to rock the MGI stage as they fight to take home the coveted golden crown. Tonight's show will again be hosted by Thai-Australian presenter Matthew Deane and will stream live on the official YouTube channel of Miss Grand International from 7 p.m. local time.
