Miss America 2024 is Madison Marsh of Colorado

Miss Colorado, Madison Marsh, was crowned Miss America 2024 during the national competition held on Sunday, January 14 at the Walt Disney Theater (Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts) in Orlando, Florida. The 22-year-old astrophysicist and pilot made history as the first active-duty Air Force officer to win the Miss America title. She succeeds last year's winner Grace Stanke of Wisconsin. Ellie Breaux of Texas was the first runner-up while Cydney Bridges of Indiana, Mallory Hudson of Kentucky, and Caroline Parente of Rhode Island were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Rounding out the Top 11 were Cori Keller of Arkansas, Courtney Wages of Kansas, Kennedy Taylor of Maryland, Amelia Collins of New York, and Taylor Loyd of North Carolina. Miss America 2024 is currently taking place in Orlando, Florida where 51 contestants representing different states of the United States of America are vying for the coveted title. The contestants showcased their talents during the Miss America's Got Talent Show held on Thursday, January 11 at the Walt Disney Theater (Dr. Philips Center). Latinx actress and comedian, Jessica Val Ortiz, a professionally trained dancer, Laurieann Gibson, New York-based entertainment and talent producer, Wesley Whatley, and the Head of Artist Relations at Range Media Partners, C.J. Cook were among the judges. Presented by Kawai Pianos, Miss America's official partner, three contestants have been officially announced as the Preliminary Talent winners. The Miss America 2024 preliminary competition was held on Wednesday, January 10 at the Walt Disney Theater (Dr. Philips Center) in Orlando, Florida. Out of 51 contestants, three contestants have been announced as the winners of the Preliminary Fitness segment which was presented by Miss America's official fitness wear partner, Rebel Athletic. The winners were Miss Maryland (Kennedy Taylor), Miss Mississippi (Vivian O'Neal), and Miss Tennessee (Brandee Mills). They will each receive a $3000 worth of scholarship. Miss America 2024 will be the 96th edition of the Miss America pageant — the nation's leading provider of scholarships for young women. The 51 state representatives have already been crowned and they will compete for the national title on January 14 at the Walt Disney Theater (Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts) in Orlando, Florida. Apart from raising the age limits to between 18 and 28, the 2024 competition under the new CEO Robin Ross-Fleming will also see other changes. For the first time since scrapping the swimsuit competition in 2018, there will be a segment that focuses on health and fitness. The CEO clarified, that the contestants will not be judged based on their physical appearance. "There is NO SCORE given on appearance, the health & fitness segment is to bring awareness to women's health issues and give a platform to women to inspire and inform all women on best health practices." Sabrina Lewis, representing Berkeley, edged out 42 other competitors to win Miss California 2023 on Saturday, July 1 at the Visalia Convention Center in Downtown Visalia, California. The 26-year-old equestrian and an alumna of the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) succeeds last year's titleholder Catherine Liang, a financial analyst from Bay Area. Asha Bhattacharya of Anaheim Hills was named first runner-up while Taylor Yamane of Riverside City, Mahika Valluri of Northern California, and Katie Tessier of Los Angeles County were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. The title of Miss California's Teen 2023 went to San Deigo's Marlie Wright who will now proceed to the Miss America's Teen 2024 pageant.
