After 25 years, Bonaire is returning to the Miss Universe stage with the newly appointed Miss Universe Bonaire 2024 Ruby Pouchet. The 28-year-old from Kralendijk will now prepare to represent Bonaire at the Miss Universe 2024 (73rd Miss Universe) pageant in Mexico later this year. "There are few words to express how proud we are of you, as you said, the journey has not been easy but seeing the result shows that it was worth it," posted on Miss Bonaire's official social media page. Bonaire, an island municipality of the Netherlands off Venezuela's coast in the southern Caribbean, is set to debut at this year's Miss Grand International pageant with newly announced Miss Grand Bonaire 2023 Ruby Pouchet. The 27-year-old nature conservationist was crowned Miss Bonaire 2022 at the Courtyard by Marriott Bonaire Dive Resort in Kralendijk last December. In her latest post on social media today, Ruby shared she is beyond honored to be the first-ever representative of Bonaire on the prestigious stage. Ruby Pouchet was crowned Miss Bonaire 2022 in a glittering final held last Saturday, December 3 at the Courtyard by Marriott Bonaire Dive Resort in Kralendijk. The 26-year-old beauty who represented her neighborhood of Playa Pariba is a university graduate in sales and marketing. She is multilingual and aims to educate and break boundaries on the island of Bonaire. Caroline Porras of Antriol and Michell Emerenciana of Nikiboko were announced as the first and second runners-up, respectively. Bonaire, an island off of Venezuela’s coast in the southern Caribbean, debuted at Miss Universe in 1967 and its last participation was in 1999. The international pageant no longer allows the island to compete since being proclaimed as a municipality of the Netherlands. At Miss World, Bonaire participated only three times — during its debut in 1996, return in 2011, and last participation in the 2012 edition.
