Colombian actress and former Miss Earth Colombia Alejandra Villafañe died in Bogotá on October 21 after months of battling cancer. Alejandra was 34 years old and was engaged to actor Raul Ocampo at the time of her death. Messages of sympathy poured in online from her family, friends, and fellow celebrities. Prior to becoming an actress, she was crowned Miss Earth Colombia 2014 and went on to participate in the 14th Miss Earth pageant in the Philippines where she placed in the Top 16. After pageantry, she appeared in numerous telenovelas, television series, and films. Miss Earth Caquetá, Luz Adriana López Ayala, edged out 10 other contestants to be crowned Miss Earth Colombia 2023 on Saturday, April 29 at Centro de Convenciones Las Camelias in Montenegro, Quindío. The 26-year-old environmental engineer representing the Serranía de Chiribiquete will now prepare for the Miss Earth 2023 pageant to be held in Vietnam later this year. Marelis Salas Julio of Bolivar placed second and was named Miss Earth Air and Miss Intercontinental Colombia 2023. She will be participating in Miss Intercontinental 2023. The third placer, Stephany Silva of Cauca, was announced as Miss Earth Water and Miss Eco Colombia 2023. She will proceed to Miss Eco International 2023. The Miss Earth Colombia 2023 national pageant kicked off on April 20 with the arrival of contestants at Hotel Finca El Barranco in Montenegro, a beautiful municipality in the western part of the department of Quindío. A total of 11 eco beauties representing various departments of the country were chosen to compete for the title currently held by last year's titleholder and reigning Miss Earth Fire Andrea Aguilera.  After a week of pre-pageant activities, the final competition will take place tonight at Centro de Convenciones Las Camelias. Miss Earth Colombia 2022 Andrea Aguilera Arroyave has been officially crowned on Friday, October 21 during the Women Economic Forum at Centro de eventos Valle del Pacifico in Cali. The social communicator and journalist, 25, was appointed last month as her country's representative in the upcoming Miss Earth 2022 pageant in the Philippines.
