Melloney Dassanayake was crowned Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2024 during the national competition held on Friday, September 27 at Citrus Waskaduwa. The 25-year-old banker and professional model from Colombo beat 17 other contestants to win the title and will now represent Sri Lanka at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico this November. Sonali Silva was named first runner-up, while Prathibha Liyanaarachchi, Reshalee de Silva, and Chamanthi Bandara were the second, third, and fourth runners-up. This year's Miss Universe Sri Lanka, under the new national director Nirmal Bandara, marked the return of Sri Lanka to the Miss Universe pageant after a 5-year hiatus. Maya Dmitri was crowned Miss International Sri Lanka 2024 in a special ceremony held on Sunday, May 5 at the Mövenpick Hotel in Colombo. The 20-year-old model and software engineering student will now prepare to represent her country at Miss International 2024 in  Tokyo, Japan this November. Sri Lanka will be represented at Miss International 2023 by the recently appointed Miss Sri Lanka International 2023 Umanda Bamunuachchi. The 21-year-old professional dancer and student living in Paris was second runner-up at Miss Sri Lanka in France, a beauty pageant among the Sri Lankan community. She also bagged the Best Catwalk and Miss Congeniality award. As Miss International Sri Lanka, Umanda is advocating for pediatric cancer patients. She shared, "I am honored to be the titleholder of such a respected legacy and to continue this worthy charity cause with my best effort and dedication." "We are currently planning to execute a fundraising project to support the cancer patients in Sri Lanka with an internationally promoted campaign along with creating awareness of cancer prevention and early detection."
