The 72nd Miss Universe preliminary competition took place last night at the Gimnasio Nacional José Adolfo Pineda in San Salvador, El Salvador. More than 80 contestants from around the world dazzled in their Clarisse Designs opening dresses, swimsuits by Rubin Singer, footwear by Jojo Bragais, and their choice of evening gowns. Hosted by reigning Miss Universe R'Bonney Gabriel and former Miss Universe El Salvador Vanessa Velásquez, last night's spectacular show is considered the most inclusive in the 72-year history of Miss Universe. There were two mothers (Colombia and Guatemala), two transgender women (Netherlands and Portugal), and one plus-sized (Nepal). Also, two contestants (Bahrain and Pakistan) walked on stage during the swimsuit competition wearing a burkini, a swimsuit marketed toward Muslim women. Miss Universe 2023: Fans break the internet, prelims now on YouTube

The live streaming of the Miss Universe 2023 preliminary competition has been moved to YouTube, due to a technical issue with its live stream platform partner Live Bash. According to the Miss Universe Organization (MUO), "The viewership and ticket purchasing from our fanbase overwhelmed the Live Bash host site, so in order to avoid any delays we are pushing to YouTube." The organization also announced that those who have already purchased their virtual tickets will be refunded by Live Bash. Refunds will be processed within approximately 5-10 business days. The highly anticipated preliminary competition of the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) pageant will take place tonight at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador. More than 80 contestants will walk the stage for the first time in their evening gowns and swimsuits to impress the distinguished selection committee. Their preliminary performances tonight will help determine the semifinalists to be announced during the final show this Saturday, November 18. If you can't make it to the venue, you can still enjoy the show in the comfort of your own home. Miss Universe 2023 official run of show announced

The Miss Universe Organization has revealed today the official selection rounds for the upcoming 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) competition. From the 85 contestants, only 20 will be announced to proceed to the semifinals during the final show this Saturday, November 18 in San Salvador. The Top 20 will compete in their swimsuits then only 10 will continue to the next round and compete in their evening gowns. From the Top 10, the 5 finalists will be selected and they will go through the question and answer round. Then, only the Top 3 will go to the last round which is the final question and answer. The competition will culminate in the much-awaited crowning moment. Miss Universe 2023: Five contestants selected for MUBA Cosmetics' photoshoot

Five contestants vying for Miss Universe 2023 have been selected for a special photoshoot with MUBA Cosmetics, the official makeup sponsor of the 72nd Miss Universe competition. They were Camila Avella of Colombia, Mariana Downing of the Dominican Republic, Rikkie Valerie Kollé of the Netherlands, Athenea Pérez of Spain, and Anntonia Porsild of Thailand. The photoshoot which was themed Appetite for MUBA "Eat, Sleep, Do Makeup & Repeat" took place at InterContinental San Salvador-Metrocentro Mall, the official hotel residence of this year's pageant in El Salvador. Wearing Lugó Lugó Brothers creations and glam looks courtesy of the cosmetic line's makeup artists, the contestants were shot by official photographer Enmanuel Baez. As the official swimwear of the 72nd Miss Universe pageant in San Salvador this month, the contestants will wear its first limited collection "Off the Runway" for the upcoming preliminary and final show's swimsuit competition. The collection includes plus-size and modest offerings, in addition to dozens of high-fashion looks from the renowned womenswear designer. Model, actress, and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo and Emmy Award-winning TV host, producer, and advocate Jeannie Mai will return as hosts.
