Jia Qi was crowned Miss Universe China 2023 last Sunday, October 22 during the national competition held in the world's ceramic capital, Dehua. The 23-year-old beauty from Chengdu will represent her country at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador this November. She succeeds last year's winner Sichen Jiang. From more than 200 beautiful and talented young ladies from all provinces and autonomous regions of China, only 32 contestants were selected to take part in this year's final. After a 22-year absence, Zimbabwe, a landlocked country in southern Africa, is expected to return to the Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador later this year. Previously held by the first ever Miss Universe Zimbabwe, Yvette D'Almeida Chakras, the Miss Universe license is now in the hands of Tendai Hunda, a former Miss World Zimbabwe and Miss Intercontinental 2015 fourth runner-up. Joining her as chief of operations and managing director is Zimbabwean television personality and communications consultant, Rumbidzai Takawira. Zimbabwe last joined Miss Universe in the year 2001 with Tsungai Muswerakuenda. Its highest placement was achieved in 2000 when Corinne Crewe finished in the Top 10 from a field of 79 competitors in Nicosia, Cyprus.
