Miss Andros, Selvinique Wright was crowned Miss Universe Bahamas 2024 on Sunday, May 12 at Atlantis Showroom in Paradise Island. The 31-year-old founder of the "Women's Health.. Us First" foundation will now prepare to represent the Bahamas at the 73rd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2024) in Mexico this November. Her foundation, which focuses on fibroids awareness, aims to promote education, foster research, build a supportive community, and advocate for better health. No stranger to pageantry, Selvinique is a former Miss Grand Bahamas who participated in Miss Grand International 2016 in Las Vegas where she placed in the Top 10 and bagged the Best in Swimsuit award. This year's Miss Universe Bahamas pageant which was themed "Destination Bahamas" featured 10 worthy contestants vying for the national title. The beautiful contestants vying for Miss Universe Bahamas 2024 were officially revealed on Friday, April 12 online. Ten women have been selected for the opportunity to compete for the national title currently held by last year's winner Melissa Ingraham . Melissa participated in the Miss Universe 2023 pageant in San Salvador, El Salvador last November. Miss Long Island, Melissa Ingraham bested nine other competitors to win Miss Bahamas Universe 2023 (Miss Universe Bahamas 2023) on Sunday, July 2 at the Atlantis Showroom in Paradise Island. The 26-year-old climate advocate with a bachelor's degree in environmental science and a master's in climate change will now represent The Bahamas at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) in El Salvador later this year. Taja Hudson of Cat Island was named first runner-up while Robyn Rahming of Exuma finished as second runner-up and was awarded the title Miss International World Bahamas 2023. Miss Long Island, Angel Cartwright, edged out eight other finalists to win the Miss Bahamas Universe 2022 competition on Sunday, July 31 at the Atlantis Showroom in Paradise Island. The 27-year-old private banker and conservationist from Nassau will represent The Bahamas at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant, whose date and venue are yet to be announced. Miss Abaco, India Davis, and Miss Andros, Natalya Pratt, were the first and second runners-up, respectively. Miss New Providence, Chantel O’Brian, was crowned Miss Bahamas Universe 2021 in a national competition held last Sunday, October 3 in Nassau. The 27-year-old entrepreneur who holds a bachelor's degree in business enterprise bested three other finalists to win her national title. She succeeds Shauntae Miller and will now prepare to represent the Bahamas at the 70th Miss Universe pageant in Eilat, Israel this December. Chantel is no stranger to pageantry as she previously held the title of Miss World Bahamas and went on to represent her country at the Miss World 2015 pageant in Sanya, China.
