Miss France 2023 Indira Ampiot officially confirmed she will head to Mexico to represent France at the 73rd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2024) pageant this November. The 19-year-old shared the news on social media today. She said: "I am so happy to officially announce this news to you. I'm heading to Mexico to represent France at the Miss Universe competition next November." "Miss Universe has always been a dream to achieve. I am determined to make France shine and try to win the crown," she added and thanked the Miss France organization for the opportunity and their support. Indira hails from from Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe. She was crowned Miss Basse-Terre and Miss Guadeloupe 2022 before becoming the fourth woman from her region to win Miss France. Former Miss France Diane Leyre officially announced on Monday, July 10 that she will represent her country at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023). The 26-year-old model and radio personality from Paris posted a video announcement on social media. She said, "Proud to announce that I will represent France at the next Miss Universe competition." "A year after returning my crown, I never gave up my dream to go back on stage to represent our country internationally," she continued. The pre-pageant activities for the 30 contestants vying for the highly coveted Miss France 2023 have officially begun.  They arrived in Guadeloupe on Monday, November 21 for their traditional preparation trip that involves photoshoots, press meetings, catwalk exercises, and etiquette courses, among others. Joining them were Miss France organization's President and CEO Alexia Laroche-Joubert, former national director Sylvie Tellier, new national director Cindy Fabre and reigning queen Diane Leyre. Miss France 2023 will broadcast on December 17 live on TF1 from M.A.CH 36 in Châteauroux, Centre-Val de Loire. It will be the host city's second time holding the national pageant after the 2018 edition. Miss France 2022 first runner-up Floriane Bascou has been officially announced on Tuesday, October 11 to represent France at the 71st Miss Universe pageant. In an official statement, the reigning Miss France Diane Leyre revealed the reason she will not be able to participate in Miss Universe is "due to lack of time and preparation" after crowning her successor at Miss France 2023 in December. The newly appointed Miss Universe France is 20 years old and hails from Le Lamentin, a city in the French overseas department and region of Martinique. She is a graduate of a scientific baccalaureate specializing in life and earth sciences. Floriane is currently pursuing studies in preparatory health with a law option and aims of becoming an orthodontist in the future. She has always been interested in the medical field from an early age. Miss Universe France Clémence Botino will be isolated for 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Israel. The 24-year-old beauty who hails from Guadeloupe came to Israel to participate in the 70th Miss Universe pageant to be held on December 12. Unfortunately, her test results came back positive for the viral infection.  In a statement shared on her social media account, she said: "I was shocked and sad, it is truly hard. I'm a really positive person and I work really hard, and the past two years have been tough." "Even if it is hard I won't give up. Life has brought me to Israel and everything is ready. Every situation is supposed to make us stronger," she added. Clémence also encouraged her followers to be safe "because the virus is still here."
