Ireland's Kate Schneider takes over Mrs World 2020 title

Mrs Ireland World Kate Schneider has been named the new Mrs World 2020. She was the first runner-up at the last edition of the international pageant for married women. The original titleholder Caroline Jurie resigned following a controversial on-stage drama in the Mrs Sri Lanka pageant earlier this month where she snatched the crown of the winner Pushpika De Silva because of false allegations. She was later arrested for the incident but released on bail. Mrs World organization took to social media to announce the new titleholder on Tuesday, April 20 and revealed that Caroline's voluntary resignation was solely her decision. Mrs Sri Lanka World 2020 Pushpika De Silva wrongfully stripped of her crown

Pushpika De Silva was stripped of her crown while on the stage after winning the Mrs Sri Lanka World 2020 pageant last Sunday, April 4 in Colombo. Due to false claims that she was a divorcee, the 2019 winner and the reigning Mrs World, Caroline Jurie, forcibly remove her crown and gave it to the first runner-up. Caroline took to the stage and said: "There's a rule that you'll have to be married, and not divorced. So, I'm taking my first step saying that the crown goes to the first runner-up." Pushpika left the stage in tears and was reportedly injured from the embarrassing incident. She was later reinstated after the organizers confirmed that she is separated but still married. In a post on social media, she explained she was separated from her husband due to personal reasons. She also wrote, "True queens do not snatch other women's crowns."
