Zainab Jama, 23, has been officially announced to represent Somalia at the 72nd Miss World competition in Hyderabad, India this May. The new Miss World Somalia holds a degree in aviation and airport management and is passionate about global opportunities and cultural exchange. As the founder of the Female Initiative Foundation, she is a dedicated activist against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), using her platform to protect and empower young girls. Beyond advocacy, Zainab enjoys football, modeling, and poetry. No stranger to pageantry, she has previously joined the Miss Global 2023 pageant in Vietnam where she made the Top 13. For the first time in history, Somalia will have a representative at Miss Universe with newly appointed Miss Universe Somalia 2024 Khadija Omar. The 23-year-old beauty made history as the first-ever Miss Universe Somalia and the first hijabi woman to participate in the prestigious international pageant. Khadija was born in the Hagadera refugee camp in Kenya and emigrated to Canada in 2010. In March 2022, she made the Top 13 among 97 contestants at the 70th Miss World competition which was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She will now prepare to represent Somalia at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico this November. "The universe always rewards the efforts you put in. Fowsia Abdirashid Abdihakin to represent Somalia at Miss Supranational 2023, replaces Miss Somalia 2022 winner Iqra Ahmed Hassan Miss Somalia 2022 runner-up Fowsia Abdirashid Abdihakin has been appointed the new Miss Supranational Somalia 2023, replacing the Miss Somalia 2022 winner Iqra Ahmed Hassan. The Miss Somalia organization made the announcement on social media earlier this month but no reasons were mentioned by the organizers in their released official statement. Fowsia is 21 years old, born in Kenya, and was raised and educated in the Dagahaley Refugee camp. The education advocate and an aspiring cybersecurity expert is currently pursuing her final year at the university for her degree in computer science. Somalia, a country in the Horn of Africa, is set to debut at the Miss Earth pageant with the newly appointed Miss Earth Somalia 2022 Hibaq Ahmed. The 26-year-old fashion model, support worker and English teacher will travel to Manila, the Philippines for the Miss Earth 2022 world final this November. Not new to pageantry, Hibaq was previously named Miss Elite World Somalia and went to participate at the Miss Elite World pageant several months ago in Soma Bay, Egypt. A student and entrepreneur originally from Beledweyne, Bahja Mohamoud, has been officially announced as Miss World Somalia 2022. She is now expected to represent her country at the 71st Miss World pageant. The 22-year-old is currently studying at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and enjoys swimming, boating, piano, violin, volunteering at animal shelters, and cooking every cuisine under the sun. Bahja grew up with a very early passion for medicine, mental health awareness, and education, with a particular interest in healthcare within the Somali community. Her first business was a chemical dependency clinic that had the goal of reducing the stigma of mental health conditions and co-occurring drug addiction in her community when she was only 18.
