María Fernanda Aristizábal, 22, was crowned Señorita Colombia 2020 in a national competition held on Monday, November 11 at the Julio César Turbay Ayala Convention Center in Cartagena.
The social communication student, representing Quindío, succeeds last year’s winner Gabriela Tafur. She will represent Colombia at the Miss Universe 2020 pageant.
María Alejandra Salazar (Huila) was proclaimed as Virreina Nacional while Paula Jiménez (Antioquia), Mariana Jaramillo (Región Caribe) and Valentina Aldana Dorado (Cauca) were the first, second, and third princesses, respectively.
The runners-up are expected to compete in the next edition of Miss International, Miss United Continents and Reina Mundial del Banano pageants.
Colombia has won two Miss Universe (Luz Marina Zuluaga in 1958 and Paulina Vega in 2014) and three Miss International (Stella Márquez in 1960, Paulina Gálvez in 1999 and Jeymmy Vargas in 2004).
