A 26-year-old pharmacist, Sireethorn Leearamwat, became the first woman from Thailand to be crowned Miss International since 1960.
Born in Bangkok, Thailand, Sireethorn attended Mahidol University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and worked as a pharmacist prior to joining pageantry.
Sireethorn has won the Miss Thailand 2019 national competition where she earned the right to represent Thailand at the Miss International 2019 pageant in Tokyo, Japan in November last year.
With a Miss International crown to boast, Sireethorn also marked Thailand’s first to win one of the biggest beauty pageants in the world since Bui Simon was crowned Miss Universe 1988.
In her final speech during Miss International 2019, the Thai beauty defined the ‘cheer all women’ theme of the pageant as a way to “encourage, support, and inspire all women, all around the world to make their dreams come true and make a great thing to our world.”
“I dared to dream to become a beauty queen, even if there’s nothing really related to my career as [a] pharmacist. I used critic as power to make myself improve to be the best representative and make my nation proud,” she said.
“If an ordinary girl like her can do it, everyone can too.”
The reigning queen is set to become the longest-reigning Miss International titleholder in history as the 2020 competition has been canceled due to ongoing global impact caused by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
