Ten years ago on August 23, Ximena Navarrete stood out among 82 of the world’s most beautiful women at the 59th Miss Universe pageant. At age 22, she was crowned Miss Universe 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA), making her the second woman from Mexico to win the coveted title.
Ximena took to social media to celebrate the day she will never forget with several photos she captioned, “The most valuable thing about this experience was leaving my country Mexico as number one, being able to take my culture and a positive message around the world and inspire many people to fulfill their dreams.”
The beauty queen turned actress, TV host and model, also expressed how grateful she is to have been given that opportunity and thanked those who have supported her during that stage of her life.
Ximena was born and raised in Guadalajara, the capital city of Jalisco, Mexico to a middle-class family. She began modeling locally at the age of 16, and studied nutrition at the Valle de Atemajac University, before entering the world of pageantry.
Prior to winning Miss Universe, she was crowned Nuestra Belleza Jalisco and went on to win the Nuestra Belleza México national pageant. She spent her year as Miss Universe traveling to around 15 countries.
After her reign, she debuted her acting career in the soap opera “La Tempestad” (The Tempest) where she played a twin role opposite Cuban-American actor and former model William Levy.
Ximena got engaged with businessman Juan Carlos Valladares in 2016 after almost a year of dating. They got married in 2017 and are still happily together three years later.
